Summary
Hantatracker is an aggregator of publicly published Hantavirus surveillance reports. We do not require accounts. We do not run third-party advertising. We do not sell or share user data. The information below describes the limited operational data the platform processes.
What we collect
- Server logs. Cloudflare records standard web access logs (IP, user agent, requested URL, response code, timestamps). These are used for security monitoring and abuse mitigation, retained for the period configured in Cloudflare's dashboard.
- Browser local storage. Your map viewport, layer toggles, and severity filters are saved in your browser only (keys prefixed
hantatracker:). Clearing your browser data erases them. - Aggregated public health data. Case counts, deaths, outbreak metadata and news articles ingested from the World Health Organization, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and a public news API. These are not personal data.
What we do not collect
- No user accounts, no email signup, no name or contact information.
- No third-party analytics or advertising trackers.
- No cookies beyond Cloudflare's transient security cookies.
- No fingerprinting, no behavioural profiling, no cross-site tracking.
Third-party processors
- Cloudflare hosts the site, terminates TLS, and provides DDoS and bot protection. Their privacy policy applies to traffic at the edge.
- OpenFreeMap serves the map tiles for the outbreak map.
- OpenRouter normalises ingested news articles via a small language model. We send only the article title and the first ~1500 characters of body text; we do not send any visitor data.
- NewsAPI provides international news mentions of "hantavirus".
Your rights
Because we do not collect personal data, there is generally nothing to access, correct, export or delete. If you believe we hold information about you, write to hello@hantatracker.io and we will respond within 30 days.
Changes
We will update the date at the top of this page when this policy changes. Significant changes (e.g. introducing user accounts, adding analytics) will also be announced on the homepage.
